Employers
The Licking County
Department of Job & Family
Services offers employers assistance with recruiting and retaining new
employees and out-placing dislocated workers. We have access to a
diverse
population of job seekers and offer a variety of supportive services to
help individuals find and maintain employment. Our goal is to provide
employers
with services needed to attract and maintain a qualified workforce.
Services
are provided without cost to the employer or job seeker.
Employee
Recruitment
- Access to diversified applicants with
varying
skill
levels.
- On or off site recruitment opportunities
&
information
sessions available.
- Promotion of job openings.
- Applicant screening for compatibility
(screening does not include drug test or background check).
- Access to pre-trained vocational and
technical
applicants.
- Annual job fair
Incentives and
Programs
- Subsidized employment program to offset
training
cost
during the first 90 days of employment. (Employer can be reimbursed
$350
per month per eligible hire)
- Job retention & supportive services
available to
new and current staff including transportation and child care
assistance
for those qualified.
Tax Credits
- Welfare to Work Tax Credit (WtW)
encourages employers to hire long-term Ohio Works First (OWF)
recipients.
Employers can earn up to $3500 for the first year and $5000 for the
second
year of employment.
- Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC)Federal
income
tax credit designed to encourage employers to hire individuals from
targeted
groups. (OWF recipients, veterans, certain food stamp recipients, 16-24
year old Empowerment Zone/Enterprise Community residents, vocational
rehabilitation
referrals, and low income ex-felons) WOTC reduces tax liability up to
$1200
the first year of employment and up to $2400 the second year of
employment.

Employers Who Are Downsizing
- Provide on or off site orientations for
affected
employees
to discuss employment and training options.
- Career assessments and job seeking workshops
available.
- Access to Community Resource Center, where
job
seekers
can obtain assistance with resume and cover letter development, and
Internet
access to aid in job search activities.
- Access to local labor market information and
job
leads.
- Computer tutorials and video library also
available.
