Having <FAME and FORTUNE> as our life’s primary goal has long been part
of our cultural values, and it has been good as well as bad. But, with Globalization
a reality now; and when combined with our sacred
believe in a “Free Trade” with no
tariffs, unprecedented Radical
Capitalism has resulted which will destroy our Nation.

Why do these rich
US-money-barons do this to us? Because we let them, and their own benefits
are sky-rocketing into the Billions. Is there a system of Global production
that does not have this flaw of large wage differences, causing Trade
imbalances? Yes, but not for a world consisting of “sovereign” Nations at
different stages of development. None of our politician is focusing on this
real CAUSE of the problem. That is why they don’t mentioning it in their
speeches. How can an incentive package for US citizens equalize wages with

Let me say some words about the moral and ethical values of these two Fs in our Dream and what they actually
stand for. The fame part is our craving for adulation by others to stroke our
<EGO> and the fortune part is our demand to become <filthy-rich>
(greed) which gives us <CONTROL> over others and also earns us admiration
by many. Actually both Fs have the
same motive, which is to make us <FEEL SUPERIOR OVER OTHERS>, satisfying
our ego.
These are our most valued and sacred American believes and when judged from a
moral and ethical standpoint, you must admit that they are REALY UGLY. Therefore,
most of us common people HATE these totally selfish or EGO-centric rich
stockholders and their CEOs for what they are doing to us and our country. But given a chance to trade places with
them, we would do so in a second.
In the past, powerful trade unions
and our elected Government kept these totally selfish money-barons in
check and it has given us the strongest economy in the World. But
now, in its most selfish and radical form, capitalism is destroying our
country.
If you have read the Bible or seen the movie <The Ten Commandments> you
will recognize our greedy cravings as the reason old Moses had to climb the
mountain a second time to question the <Burning Bush> again. Trouble is, we have no Moses any more. And if you are a Buddhist, you
will remember your teacher reminding you that you cannot let your EGO run your
life if you ever hope to graduate from his classes.

Solution for a Strong, but still democratic, Leadership
to save our economy
Let me finish my three pages of listings and <sound-bytes> for the major flaws
of our American Culture and concentrate on a <solution> instead. A direct way is to focus on the
<real> cause, which tells us that to maintain our standard of living and
to have any significant role in this World; we will need to do the impossible.
Change our most sacred believes and turn back the time 50 years to “the great
social contract” of the “GI-bill”, John F Kennedy and the
“National Defense Education Act” of 1958. This period, from 45 to 75, has also
been called “The Golden Age of Capitalism” We need to look at J. F.
Kennedy’s famous line as our new goal:
<Ask not what the country can do for you,
but what you can do for the country.>
If this were the only way out-off
this <looming
economic cataclysm>, then I would say our chances are null, zero,
nada, keine, nichts.
The same might be true for reintroducing the old style protectionism with
tariffs. I have absolutely no hope that either way will work. --- But now I
think I have discovered a different way which does not require a cultural
change for all 300 million American citizens, but only for a few thousand
Business Leaders.

Christensen explains what
influence these innovations have had for the cultural evolution of mankind when
he writes in his paper, Managing the Disruption of Healthcare:
---- Nearly every one of the disruptive technologies reviewed in the The Innovator's Dilemma -
including hydraulic excavators, steel minimills and
small business accounting software - had the effect of enabling a larger
population of less-skilled [and
less wealthy] people to do things that historically had been in the domain
of expensive specialists. In each of these examples, customers ultimately found
themselves with products and services that were far more reliable, more
convenient to use, and cost less, than what would have been available had these
disruptive revolutions not occurred. Few of us would opt to return to
the days of centralized mainframe computing, corporate copying centers or to
telegraphy. Though they were simple and inadequate at the outset, the
disruptive innovations that overturned their industries left us much better off
- even though they invariably left in their wake the wrecks of the companies
that were the industry's prior leaders. --- In fact, these disruptions have
been a fundamental mechanism by which the quality of our lives has improved.
As I ask, will the

The $787 Billion STIMULUS-program does not address the above problem at all; it
stimulates only the local economy weakly in an undifferentiated way. --- This
program is obviously not the “right
kind of plan” Larry; because it is based on a WRONG DIAGNOSIS, assuming we are only
dealing with a cyclic recession. As Business Professor Peter Morici, of
the University of Maryland, explains it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pF0Pv4d38UI&feature=related “A DEPRESSION is a recession that DOES NOT SELF-CORRECT , because of
fundamental structural problems in the economy, such as <broken banks> or
a <huge trade deficit>.”

we were already heading for a MAJOR DEPRESSION years ago. The “stimulus
treatment”, recommended by our so called

philosophical and political values and considerations that humankind displays
most convincingly both its present intellectual immaturity and - through

For a time I was baffled when none of the “Stimulus money” was ever directed
towards the <Outsourcing problem> which <deindustrializes> our country. The new term of <Fetishized Hypercapitalism> has
now opened my eyes. It works by Magic, STUPID! –
If you have ever tried to fix things by MAGIC you’ll understand that our
economy can’t be restored that way. Understanding that this DEPRESSION can last
for decades is easy, my solution is more difficult to comprehend. You need to
read my web-pages and do some study on Prof. Christensen’s work, but you don’t
need to understand my DSO design, it just works even without magic.

What is this “Perversion” of
our Capitalistic Culture?
<Let me state here a personal
conviction that appears, right now, to be profoundly unfashionable; which is
that a planned economy can be more productive - and more morally desirable -
than one left to market forces. The market is a good example of evolution
in action; the try-everything-and-see-what-works approach. This might provide a
perfectly morally satisfactory resource-management system so long as there was
absolutely no question of any sentient creature ever being treated purely as
one of those resources. The market, for all its (profoundly inelegant)
complexities, remains a crude and essentially blind system, and is - without
the sort of drastic amendments liable to cripple the economic efficacy which is
its greatest claimed asset - intrinsically incapable of distinguishing between
simple non-use of matter resulting from processal
superfluity [surplus] and the acute, prolonged and wide-spread suffering of
conscious beings.
It is, arguably, in the elevation of this profoundly mechanistic (and in that
sense perversely innocent) [capitalistic] system to a position above all other
moral, philosophical and political values and considerations that humankind
displays most convincingly both its present intellectual immaturity and - through grossly pursued selfishness (rather than the applied hatred of others) a kind of synthetic evil.>

You should rejoice Bill, considering the troubles you have with our Government
organizations; --- this coming National disaster will strike all of the U.S.
just like the Hurricane Katrina struck the Golf coast, but this time it
will strike all cities and continue for may decades. --- I believe a lot of
people will be surprised about the similarities of these two events. No
electricity, no gas for heat, no fresh water, --- Foot riots in nearly all big
Cities, street gangs controlling the neighborhoods,
fires being set and burning out of
control, the organization of “soup-kitchens” being delayed by lack of founds, etc.
etc. Driving on highways will only be possible in convoys with armored trucks
in front and back, and still there will be trouble, because ambushes will be
set with parts of the highways being mined. --- Since this Catastrophe is
nation-wide, there will not be enough National Guards or even regular Army to
keep order, and the Employees of Government organizations will not come to work
without being paid. ---- Don’t you think Bill that this will solve your
“misunderstandings” with the Government?
You have ask me Bill what I am doing
--- to prevent this catastrophe from happening. It can’t be prevented Bill, it’s the way the forces in this Kosmos
are arranged; You might say by “the process of Evolution of Consciousness”, --- these
forces are not any direct “micromanagement” by God, as Jesus has made it
very clear to us in his “Sermon on the Mount” (Ye are the salt of the Earth)
Here is a good description of our
present-day US America, the kind of The Wasteland which Joseph
Campbell has described in these words: “The problem of the grail quest
is the re-vitalization of what is known as the WasteLand.
The WasteLand is a world where people live not out of
their own initiative, but out of what they think they're supposed to do. People
have inherited their official roles and positions; they haven't earned them.
This is the situation of the Wasteland, --- a
place where the sense of the vitality of life has gone. Bill, no one can
prevent the coming disaster, and I can only buy us more time to adjust. It’s
the way by which another two to three Billion of the Word’s
population is finally getting into the industrial age and out of
poverty, hardship and hunger. (What’s the sacrifice of just 280 million
Americans compared to that?) --- What I tried to do Bill, was to increase the
US EE-student enrolment by motivating our young people and giving them the
tools to learn the craft. I have worked for more than 15 years now, not only to
invent these tools, the fishing boats and nets for engineers, at less
than 1/20th the present cost, but also to provide a design methodology for them
to repeat this type of engineering for many other instruments. (E.g. Medical diagnostic instruments, MRIs etc.) --- With no
way of getting even a small founding from the Government or any private
organization; or finding any fellow engineers who are willing to help me
voluntarily. --- I am giving up Bill! --- (I got “help” for this
decision by a Government organization, the “Bureau of Motor Vehicles”, who,
ignored a ruling by the Judge of the traffic-court, (they think they are “above
the law”) and took my drivers license away.)
This country is not worth saving Bill;
it’s corrupt down to the bones. The famous line by J.F.K
Ask not what the Country can do for you, but what you
can do for the Country,
is now just a bad joke. --- For you who are
not familiar with the Capitalistic process by which our Industry is being
transferred offshore, here is a short outline. --- Since average wages in Asian
countries are about one dollar per man-our, including the necessary engineers
on the factory floor, a company who does not outsource its products will not be
competitive and go into bankruptcy in a short time. --- Lately, the same
situation has developed for even the most demanding and sophisticated
engineering design jobs. Here is a short part from an article in the June issue
of Electronic Design:
“Motorola selected a Taiwan
company, BenQ Corp., to design and manufacture
millions of mobile phones. Last year, BenQ decided to
sell the phones in the fast growing Chinese market under its own name. Needless
to say, Motorola canceled its contract.” --- Please notice that both,
manufacturing as well as the design job had been outsourced to be done in
China, --- canceling was all Motorola could do. BenQ
however now sells even more of these phones than before. When China and India
decide the time has come to end the “economic poker-game”, they can take over
all manufacturing and design facilities in their country with a snap of a
finger. At that time, we in the US, will be left with only the headquarter
buildings and its personal of the previously big corporations, factories and
design laboratories and its staff will have disappeared.
We have then “successfully”
completed: <The voluntary DE-INDUSTRIALIZATION of the US.

Of
ALL DIGITAL SCOPES, only sequential equivalent-time-sampling instruments offer
bandwidths as high as 50 GHz. This capability makes such scopes the instruments
of choice in applications of rapidly growing importance---electro-optics, for
example.
Yet, because
these scopes work only with repetitive waveforms and take just one sample
during each input-signal iteration, they
lack the quick response of lower bandwidth, real-time -and random-sampling
instruments. This characteristic limits Sequential-sampling scopes largely
to applications that need extraordinary bandwidth. To address
the requirements of engineers, who develop components for networks that
transmit data at speeds as high as10Gbps, Tektronix has introduced a family of sequential-sampling
scopes. (TDS8000 and CDS8000) ------- Each scope accommodates four sampling
modules. Five modules provide a variety of electrical interfaces. Three more
optical-sampling modules support the OC-12/STM4, OC-48/STM16, OC-192/STM64,
Gigabit Ethernet, and Fibre Channel standards. ... The TDS-8000 cost $19,000.
Prices for electrical-sampling modules (15GHz) begin at $10,500 each; prices
for optical-sampling modules begin at $17,000 each. - Tektronix Inc,

At a
$40,000 starting price (two Sampling modules), the above might be the "bleeding edge"
instead, but here is a PC-Card size DSO, with has nearly identical performance
and a cost of only $250 in a 6-GHz, and of $400 in a 50 GHz version. This
Card-Scope uses sequential-sampling too, but the new DS2O
method (two-dimensional Sampling) takes a multitude of samples per repetition, making
the
DS2O a general-purpose scope
for all frequency ranges. LeCroy calls a similar method NRS,
“Near Real-time Sampling” and uses it in their latest line of DSOs. Another
advantage of the DS2O method is that a digitizing resolution of more
than 12 bits is obtained directly and not by averaging many traces, as with
conventional scopes. --- The present 6-GHz design uses only readily available
(commodity) ICs, but with the new Indium Phosphide (InP) chips bandwidth can
easily go beyond 50-GHz, while the power consumption still remains within the
constrains of the USB link. The cost of only one of the Tektronix TDS8000 would
buy 100 of the PC-Card+USB DSOs. But, of course, a standard PC is needed for
the display and to perform the many post-acquisition tasks listed as features
for the TDS8000. There is only one "small" problem; the PC-Card DSO is a “disruptive technology” and no T&M Company will market it,
because it would “cannibalize” their high-end $40,000 scope market. (In other words,
the company looses $40,000 every time they sell a card-scope and this will get
the CEO fired in a few weeks.) This Card-scope is one of the best
examples for a “disruptive technology” which is a concept discovery of
Professor Clayton M. Christensen, The Innovator's Dilemma; Harvard School of Business.
